This 4th of July I tried something new, a technique that I read from a fellow photographer; Focus Blur.
The technique is very simple, the result unpredictable, and surprising at the same time. All you need is a camera, on a tripod, set for a long exposure and your lens on manual. I used two and three seconds. A cable release is recommended, however, I used a two second delay to avoid the extra movement. When the shutter opens you will be out of focus, softly bring it to focus before the shutters closes again. I’ve used different focal lengths and found that the longer the lens, more dramatic the effect
You can see the settings on the camera and more photographs of this project on my Flickr page . Let me know what you think and have fun with you camera!
